24 Year-Old Man Charged with Banditry by Using Weapon Detained

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on banditry by using a weapon or other item used as weapon from a credit organization operating in Yerevan.

A call was received in Arabkir Division of the Police informing that with the purpose of swindling money in large amount by banditry from the office of a credit organization an unknown masked person entered the mentioned office and threatening to use violence dangerous for life and health with a knife used as a weapon demanded from the employee and received money in large amount – 1.000.000 AMD and escaped.

On January 21, 2019 a criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Arabkir administrative district of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Points 2 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code.

In the result of investigatory-operative actions conducted within the criminal case a number of circumstances were found out, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is a resident of Yerevan, born in 1994. On January 22, 2019 the latter was arrested on suspicion of banditry by using a weapon.

The suspect gave confessional testimony. Additional inspection of the scene was conducted.

During preliminary investigation the knife which was the crime tool, as well as the clothes the person having committed the alleged crime was wearing at the moment of the incident was confiscated.

On January 24 charge was pressed against the man, born in 1994, according to the Points 2 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code. Detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against him.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
