Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on murder of 54 year-old man is ongoing in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee. In the result of investigatory and operative actions conducted in the framework of the criminal case a number of circumstances of the case, as well as the motive of murder were found.

It was earlier informed that on August 31, 2015 54 year-old V. Aghajanyan’s body with numerous cut-pierced wounds on the chest was found in the apartment 14, house 41, Margaryan Street, Yerevan.

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Ajapnyak and Davtashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department pursuant to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code (murder) in the framework of which R. Mkrtumyan was arrested on suspicion of committing murder.

Through preliminary investigation it was found that in the apartment 14, house 41, Margaryan Street, Yerevan with the intention of illegal deprivation of life R. Mkrtumyan stabbed for many times in the chest of the resident of the mentioned apartment, V. Aghajanyan with the knife he had taken with him and killed him.

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against R. Mkrtumyan according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code (murder).

The investigator submitted a motion to the court to use detention as a pretrial measure against R. Mkrtumyan. The motion was sufficed.

Additional inspection of the site was conducted with participation of R. Mkrtumyan and the knife which was the tool of the crime was found.

Investigatory experimentation was conducted at the site. R. Mkrtumyan also participated in it and described the events.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Measures are taken to provide the comprehensive, objective and complete investigation of the case.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
