Charged with taking bribe in particularly large amount
In the framework of the criminal case investigated in the Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of General Military Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee charge was pressed against Chief of Division 2 of Military Commission of the RA Ministry of Defense, Lieutenant colonel Sh. Avetisyan for taking bribe in particularly large amount.
Through preliminary investigation sufficient data were obtained on the allegation that Chief of Conscription Unit, Lieutenant colonel Sh. Avetisyan demanded bribe in particularly large amount – 12.000 USD tantamount to 5.730.960 AMD for contributing to conduction of actions in favor of a young man registered in military commission; that is for organizing his deferment for three years. On the evening of June 1 he personally received a part of the demanded money 5.000 USD tantamount to 2.389.400 AMD in his car “Kia Sorento”.
On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against Sh. Avetisyan according to the Point 2 of the Part 4 of the Article 311 of RA Criminal Code. The investigator submitted a motion to the court to use detention as a pretrial measure against him. The motion was sufficed.
Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
