Forensic examinations appointed to find the nature and degree of bodily damages inflicted to citizens

Preliminary investigation of the criminal case initiated on June 22 in Prosecution Office of Arabkir and Qanaqer-Zeytun administrative districts on violation of public order in Baghramyan Street is ongoing in Yerevan Investigative Department. In the framework of the criminal case necessary investigatory and procedural measures are taken to provide the comprehensive and objective examination of the case.

Taking the public interest into consideration we inform that 13 of the citizens apprehended by the police subdivisions to the investigative body on June 23, declared about special measures used by state entities implementing special service with the purpose to stop the sit-in strike in Baghramyan Street, as well as about bodily damages inflicted to them while being apprehended.

In order to provide comprehensive and objective examination of the circumstances pointed out by the citizens, forensic medical examinations have been appointed by the investigator to find the nature and degree of the damages inflicted to them. 7 persons have refused to present themselves to forensic examination until today.

Besides, during the investigation calls were received from several medical services of Yerevan telling that 30 persons had turned to them for medical assistance, the register-books of the calls were inspected. The citizens who had applied for medical assistance were summoned to be interrogated and to give testimony on the circumstances. However, until now no citizen, having sustained injuries, has appeared in the investigative body.

The fact that separate citizens don’t present themselves to the investigative bodies and forensic examinations, as well as avoid participating in investigatory actions, does not contribute to implementation of complete, comprehensive and objective examination of the criminal case.
