Active investigatory and other procedural actions are ongoing in the Investigative Division of Kentron and Norq-Marash administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee to find all circumstances of capturing money in particularly large amount from a branch of “Converse Bank” CJSC.

Pursuant to initial data, on October 9 at about 11:00 the person having committed the alleged crime demanded and captured money in particularly large amount by threatening the branch manager to use violence dangerous for the latter's life that is to explode the branch. Pursuant to initial calculations, cash money tantamount to about 95.750.000 AMD in several currencies was captured.  

According to data obtained through investigation the persons having committed the alleged crime had reached a prior agreement on capturing money in particularly large amount by assault from «Sayat-Nova» branch of «Converse Bank» CJSC operating in Sayat-Nova Street, Yerevan, they also planned their roles.

According to their plan, on October 5 one of the group members went to the mentioned branch of the bank and told the manager about his intention to exchange 60.000 Euro to USD and achieved a prior agreement. On October 9 another young man went to the bank manager under the pretext of making the mentioned deal, offered to make the deal in the cashier’s work room for security reasons where he submitted a written threat to explode the bank if he was not given the money available in the safe. Then he captured the money in particularly large amount and escaped.

Through preliminary investigation actual data were obtained on identification of the person who had captured the money under the pretext of the deal; he is a resident of Aragatsotn region, born in 1988. On the base of the obtained evidence the investigator made a decision to involve the 29 year-old young man as a defendant according to the Point 1 of the Part 3 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code, search was declared against him.

In the framework of the criminal case charge was pressed against three more persons and detention was chosen as a pretrial measure against them.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing, active investigatory actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of circumstances of the case.
