Information about Criminal Cases Committed against Children in 2018 Investigated in RA IC Proceeding

Criminal cases on crimes committed against children in 2018 investigated in the proceeding of the RA Investigative Committee were examined in the RA Investigative Committee. According to the examination growth of the mentioned crimes was recorded in the observed period.

317 criminal cases on crimes committed against children were investigated in the subdivisions of the RA Investigative Committee in 2018 as compared with 265 criminal cases of the previous year.

Thus, out of 317 criminal cases

41 referred to battery envisaged by the Article 118 of RA Criminal Code,

36 - to sexual intercourse or other sexual acts with a person obviously under 16 envisaged by the Article 141 of RA Criminal Code,

16 – to violent sexual actions envisaged by the Article 139 of RA Criminal Code,

15 – to willful evasion from supporting one’s child by the parent envisaged by the Article 173 of RA Criminal Code,

13 - to lecherous acts envisaged by the Article 142 of RA Criminal Code,

11 - to rape envisaged by the Article 138 of RA Criminal Code,


10 - to kidnapping envisaged by the Article 131 of RA Criminal Code,

10 - to willful infliction of heavy damage to health envisaged by the Article 112 of RA Criminal Code,

9 - to threat to murder or to inflict heavy damage to one’s life or to destroy property envisaged by the Article 137 of RA Criminal Code,

8 – to willfully causing strong pain or bodily or mental sufferance to a person envisaged by the Article 119 of RA Criminal Code,

7 - to willful infliction of light damage to health envisaged by the Article 117 of RA Criminal Code,

7 – to hindering visiting the child by a parent or close relative envisaged by the Article 167.1 of RA Criminal Code,

3 - to causing death by negligence envisaged by the Article 109 of RA Criminal Code,

3 - to causing somebody to commit suicide envisaged by the Article 110 of RA Criminal Code,

2 - to murder envisaged by the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code,

2 - to murder of newly born child envisaged by the Article 106 of RA Criminal Code,

2 – to trafficking or exploitation of a child or a person deprived from opportunity to realize his actions or control them caused by mental disorder envisaged by the Article 132.2 of RA Criminal Code,

2 -  to separation of the child from parents without the parents’ consent or changing the child envisaged by the Article 167 of RA Criminal Code,

1 - to willful infliction of medium-gravity damage to health envisaged by the Article 113 of RA Criminal Code,

1 - to inflicting grave damage through negligence envisaged by the Article 120 of RA Criminal Code,

1 - to child trafficking envisaged by the Article 168 of RA Criminal Code,

In the framework of the criminal cases 305 children were found the affected party 157 of which were up to 12 years old, 43 – from 12 to 14, 69 – from 14 to 16, 36 – from 16 to 18.

Violence against 66 children out of 305 (21.6% of the affected children) was committed by a family member.

69 criminal cases on 73 persons with the bill of indictment were sent to court.

2 motions to use medical compulsory measures were submitted to court.
