Investigation conducted to identify those having hindered legal professional activity of journalist; those who know people captured in photos asked to tell investigative body (photos)

In the framework of the criminal case investigated in General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases of the RA Investigative Committee measures are taken to identify those having hindered the professional activity of journalist Tirayr Muradyan on April 19 in front of the third administrative building of the RA Government, to find out all circumstances of the case.

Pursuant to the data of the criminal case, on April 19 at about 08:30 journalist of “Union of Informed Citizens” NGO Tirayr Muradyan carried out his work as a journalist in front of the third administrative building of the RA Government located in Aram Street, Yerevan. While taking photos two people in civilian clothes assaulted him and used violence against him. The journalist with bodily injuries was taken to “Saint Gregory the Illuminator” medical center and got necessary medical assistance.

A criminal case was initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 164 of RA Criminal Code, journalist T. Muradyan was found the injured party and questioned. Forensic medical examination was commissioned against him.

During interrogation the injured presented a photo of two people in civilian clothes that had used violence against him. The relevant subdivision of the police was tasked to take measures to find those having committed the alleged crime and bring them to the investigative body.

Taking public interest into consideration we inform that on April 20 the investigator tasked the relevant services of the police to take operative-intelligence measures defined by the RA Law “On Operative-Intelligence Activity” within the possible shortest time period and identify those captured in the photos presented by the injured journalist, as well as to find out whether there were cameras at the scene – in the neighborhood of the third administrative building of the RA Government, the statue of Garegin Nzhdeh, to identify the police officers having performed their duties at the area, to find out the data on minibus of “Gasel” make in a route to Davtashen administrative district and its driver and a number of other circumstances.

Instructions on taking operative-intelligence measures were given on May 8 and 10, as well asking to activate the measures taken to identify those having committed the alleged crime.

Active measures are being taken in the RA IC General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases to identify those having committed the alleged crime, for this purpose the photos presented by the injured are publicized.

The people captured in the photos are asked to turn themselves to the investigative body and those who know them, have any information about them are asked to inform the RA IC General Department of Investigation of Particularly Important Cases.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
