Within the criminal case investigated in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on illegal tree-felling committed in different sections of “Chambarak” forestry of “Hayantar” SNCO two foresters were arrested.

Pursuant to initial data, from July 1, 2015 to August 3, 2018 in several sections of “Chambarak” forestry of “Hayantar” SNCO 504 trees of different types and calibers were illegally cut down causing the state damage in particularly large amount of 85.749.000 AMD.

A criminal case was initiated in Gegharkunik Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 3 of the Article 296, the Part 1 of the Article 308 and the Part 1 of the Article 315 of RA Criminal Code.

Through preliminary investigation it was found out that the officials of “Chambarak Forestry” branch of “Hayantar” SNCO did not carry out their duties properly.

Particularly, using their official position against service interests, not carrying out service duties, out of personal and group interests they showed careless and negligent attitude towards the service.

Two foresters of “Getik” and “Dprabak” sections of “Chambarak Forestry” branch of “Hayantar” SNCO were arrested on suspicion of abusing official authorities, illegal tree felling, official negligence.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory and other procedural actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of illegal tree felling.
