In the framework of the criminal case initiated on Narine Sharoyan’s death a charge pressed against the obstetrician-gynecologist of “Armavir” medical center

In the framework of the criminal case investigated in Armavir Regional Investigative Department of RA Investigative Committee initiated on RA citizen Narine Sharoyan’s death a charge was pressed against the obstetrician-gynecologist of “Armavir” medical center for improper implementation of professional duties which caused the patient’s death.

Through preliminary investigation it was found that on 28. June, 2014 the obstetrician-gynecologist of “Armavir” medical center h. Hakobyan was on duty in Maternity ward. At 11:50 N. Sharoyan who was 19-20 weeks pregnant applied for medical assistance. While providing her with medical assistance the professional duties were not implemented properly.

Particularly, instead of receiving the pregnant woman in maternity ward and examining her there, the obstetrician-gynecologist sent her to the infectious department where it was impossible to diagnose the complications related to pregnancy on time, as well as to take necessary medical measures on time.

Thus, it caused the incorrect assessment of N. Sharoyan\s objective state, delayed diagnose  because of which only several hours later – at 15:50 it was possible  to diagnose her correctly by the gynecologist. In spite of the appropriate medical measures taken from that moment it was impossible to save the woman’s life.

On the base of the obtained evidence a charge was pressed against H. Hakobyan according to the Part 2 of the Article 130 of RA Criminal Code.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
