Real Cause of 59 year-old Woman’s Death Found out; Criminal Case Initiated on Murder

On 13 August, 2021 at 12:20 an information was received from “Armavir” medical center informing that 59 year-old woman, who had been accepted in medical center on 11 August with a diagnosis of “stroke and pneumonia”, had died on 12 August at about 10:30 after which – in 24 hours after being taken to the morgue bruises appeared on her neck.

Pursuant to the protocol made by the forensic expert the woman’s death had been caused by mechanical suffocation.

Considering that in the prepared materials there was a base to initiate a criminal case, in Armavir Police Division a criminal case was initiated according to the Part 1 of the Article 104 of RA Criminal Code which was sent to Armavir Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee for conduction of preliminary investigation and was received for production.

In the result of urgent investigative and other procedural actions as well as operative measures taken jointly with the employees of the relevant subdivision of the RA Police a number of circumstances significant for the case were found out, among them the motive, the person having committed the alleged crime was identified; he is a 23 year-old resident of Armavir region.

Data were obtained on the allegation that on the day of the incident a row erupted in the victim’s house between the latter and 23 year-old man during which he hit the woman for several times on the face and head with fists then he pulled the thread with a key hung on her neck and noticing that the woman was not breathing he left.

The young man was arrested on suspicion of 59 year-old woman’s murder and was questioned.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Measures are taken to find out all circumstances, to provide the comprehensive and objective investigation of the case, to verify the circumstances mentioned in the testimonies.

Note; Everyone charged with alleged crime offence shall be presumed innocent until proved guilty according to law.
