A criminal case was initiated in Talin Investigative Division of Aragatsotn Regional Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on the grenade explosion in Zovasar village, two people were arrested.

On August 20 at about 02:00 a call was received in Operative Management Center of the RA Yerevan Police Department informing that a house had been exploded in Zovasar village.  

The investigatory-operative group immediately left for the scene and found out that the explosion took place at the door of a house. As a result, the entrance door of the house and window glass were damaged. In the result of urgent joint measures taken together with police employees a number of circumstances significant for the case, the motive were found out, the people having committed the alleged crime were identified.

Particularly, pursuant to initial data, in April, 2017 a car accident occurred in Aragatsotn province which caused the death of the residents of Zovasar village N. Manukyan and A. Kirakosyan.

In the framework of the criminal case initiated in the RA IC Talin Investigative Division according to the Part 3 of the Article 242 of RA Criminal Code the person having committed the alleged crime – the driver was identified; he is also a resident of Zovasar village.

On the base of the obtained evidence charge was pressed against the driver according to the Part 3 of the Article 242 of RA Criminal Code and in August, 2017 the criminal case with the bill of indictment was sent to court where the charge was grounded and the defendant was sentenced to imprisonment by the verdict of 07.07.2018.

After the mentioned accident the relations between the families of the defendant and the victim got tense.

Pursuant to the obtained actual data, on August 20, 2018 at about 01:50 two close relatives of the accident victim A. Kirakosyan went to the house of their fellow villager – the driver convicted and threw a grenade towards the house entrance door causing property damage.

On August 20, 2018 a criminal case was initiated in Talin Investigative Division of the RA Investigative Committee according to the Part 2 of the Article 235 and the Point 1 of the Part 2 of the Article 185 of RA Criminal Code. The suspects were arrested and questioned.

Inspection of the scene was conducted. Metal debris of an apparent explosive device were found, samples were taken and forensic explosive technical examination was commissioned.

Appropriate investigatory and criminal procedural actions are conducted to find out the source of acquirement of the grenade.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing.
