Two Persons Arrested on Suspicion of Banditry Committed with Weapon

A criminal case was initiated in the Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department of the RA Investigative Committee on banditry against 27 year-old woman. Two persons were arrested.

On February 23, 2019 at 23:20 a call was received in the Police from a woman, born in 1991, informing that on the same day at about 22:45 in Khorenatsi Street two masked persons threatening with weapon swindled 700 Euros from her and fled.

The investigatory-operative group immediately left for the scene.

Pursuant to initial data, on February 23, 2019 at about 22:45 two persons followed 27 year-old woman and in Khorenatsi Street, Yerevan blocking her way made her stop. One of them pointed a pistol towards the woman and threatening to fire demanded to give him the money and valuable things she had. The woman, being afraid, gave her valet with 500 Euros and 80.000 AMD in it to the person threatening with a pistol after which they escaped.

On February 24, 2019 a criminal case was initiated in RA IC Investigative Division of Erebuni and Nubarashen administrative districts of Yerevan Investigative Department according to the Points 1 and 4 of the Part 2 of the Article 175 of RA Criminal Code. 27 year-old woman was found the injured party and gave testimony.

Inspection of the scene and investigatory experimentation was conducted with woman’s participation during which she showed the way she had passed and the scene.

The cameras located nearby were confiscated and the videos were examined.

In the result of operative-intelligence measures the persons having committed the alleged crime were identified; they are citizens of the Republic of Georgia, Armenian by nationality, born in 1999 and 2000. On February 26, 2019 they were arrested on suspicion of banditry committed by a group of people with prior agreement using a weapon.

Preliminary investigation is ongoing. Necessary investigatory and other procedural actions are conducted to provide the comprehensive, complete and objective investigation of circumstances of the case, to personalize the actions of those having committed the alleged crime and give criminal legal assessment.
